We are filled with gratitude, or "gourditude," as we sometimes call it. Despite the struggling economy, our sales at The Gourd Place have been very good this year. As businesswomen who have experienced our share of financial struggles, we so feel for those who are wondering right now about the fate of their businesses. And of course none of us knows what the future holds. But for now we are grateful, and we want to thank anyone reading this who has visited or sent us positive thoughts this year.

Last spring we added a shopping page of Gourd Impressions pottery to this website in hopes that it might supplement our shop sales during the hard times we were expecting. As it turned out, we never tried to drive traffic to the site or notified the folks on our email list about mail order offerings, because we didn't accumulate much extra inventory. We did receive and fill some website orders late this fall and will continue to offer a limited selection of our pottery.

We’re already looking forward to next spring’s grand reopening. Partly as a result of how Priscilla dragged her feet getting our sailboats ready for launching this past spring, we have decided to have a blessing of the fleet for next year's opening on April 3, 2010. It will be great fun and will insure that we HAVE TO have the boats ready for launching. Those who haven't seen our gourd sailboats in person can see them on our photo gallery.
